1. Sunset Sailing
There is something seriously captivating about a sunset. Even though it happens every day, a sunset can still stop almost anyone in their tracks.
So, imagine how stunning a sunset is while you’re on board a first-class sailing catamaran on the Coral Sea?

While you’re there for the sunset, don’t forget to check out the view of the mainland – where spectacular mountain views of the Tropical North Queensland region are on full display.
The Sailaway Sunset Sail tour is an adults only affair, and offers a welcome drink and canapes, and is the perfect start to your evening.
2. Scenic Helicopter Rides
With the tropical rainforests filling the land, the beaches lining the shore, and of course, the majestic Great Barrier Reef calling the Coral Sea home, there is just so much to see.
GBR Helicopters offers tours starting at 30 minutes, where you can soar above the shimmering ocean and discover how the Great Barrier Reef got its name.
You will be in awe, and truly understand why millions of people visit the Reef each year. You also get to enjoy the view of the landscape and of course the thrill of a helicopter flight as well.

5. Hot Air Ballooning
With unrivalled panoramic views of the unique landscape of Tropical North Queensland, a hot air balloon ride is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
While the gentle flight in your hot air balloon is the main event, the whole experience is a captivating production.
The day begins with the inflation of the hot air balloons at the Mareeba site. With many other hot air balloons taking flight each morning, the show is truly spectacular.
As the sun rises and you begin your rise and float, you can marvel at the wonderfully picturesque and diverse Atherton Tablelands region. From country landscapes to luscious rainforests, the mountains to the oceans, every direction offers an awes-strikingly beautiful view.
6. Chasing Waterfalls
The captivating display of the tumbling waters into the natural pools below is almost hypnotising, creating a sense a relaxation that is not easy to come by.
In this part of Australia there is an abundance of waterfalls, with many of them being within an hour of the Reef House.
You could spend your day chasing as many waterfalls as possible, either with the help of a tour guide or on a self-guided adventure. You could also choose to spend your entire day at one of the incredible waterfalls, enjoy a picnic and swim in the cool waters, before heading back to the comfort of the Reef House for the night.
Either way, when you’re in this part of Australia, it would be a shame to miss this spectacular sight.
7. See the Great Barrier Reef Up Close
When you visit this part of Australia, you can actually immerse yourself into this amazing underwater world through a snorkelling or scuba diving adventure.
Whether you’re a seasoned diver or you’re a complete beginner, it doesn’t matter, as there are a wide variety of tours and ways that you can discover the marine world of the Reef.
You’ll be able to see the diverse wildlife that call the Reef home, including the fish, turtles, soft and hard corals, and many other amazing creatures.

8. Coral Cay Hopping

You’ll sail onboard a luxury catamaran to two of the coral cays in the outer reef – Mackay and Undine Reef. Sailaway have exclusive use of these sites, so you know that only a select number of people will have experienced this adventure.
You’ll be able to spend your day snorkelling, swimming, and dining on a tropical buffet lunch.
9. Dine under the stars at the Reef House Restaurant
A delicious meal with the person you love the most – what could be better than that?
How about a candlelit degustation dinner under the stars, with the cool sea breeze from the nearby ocean cooling the warm night air?
The Reef House Restaurant is in one of the most enviable positions in Palm Cove, with views of the Coral Sea ahead, the Melaleucas of the property providing a canopy, and one of the most comprehensive and diverse wine lists you will find in all of Australia.
You can dine at the Reef House Restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but if we were only able to choose one of these, we couldn’t go past dining under the stars.
10. Reef House Picnic Experiences
You can choose from three different picnic packages:
- The traditional picnic package, where you can enjoy an antipasti selection of meats, cheese, breads, local chocolates, and fruit. This picnic can be packed and ready for you to enjoy wherever you like, whether it’s by the pool, in your room, or while you’re out exploring the region.
- the Gourmet Picnic package includes antipasti, Moreton Bay bug rolls, local chocolates, and fruits. Which can be enjoyed in the setting created by us on the beach by the hotel.
- the Luxury Picnic, where you can dine on the local seafood that the region is known for as well as local chocolate delicacies and fruit, all from your beachfront picturesque setting on the Palm Cove beach.
You can also add bottles of wine or champagne to any of these picnic packages, which if you’re celebrating something special, is certainly a welcomed addition.
