An ancient Japanese massage technique that gives an instant facelift has been introduced to the spa menu at The Reef House Boutique Hotel and Spa, an adults-only wellness resort overlooking the beach at Palm Cove in Tropical North Queensland.
The Reef House Spa Director Isabelle Neil said the new Visage Intense Marine Facial was based on Kobido, dating back to the 15th Century when the treatment was reserved only for the Empress.
“I learnt the technique as part of my French training with Dior, Phytomer and Clarins as a way to strengthen the facial muscles and release tension helping to lift each of the muscle groups in the face,” she said.
“It gives an instant result by taking the downward pressure off the facial muscles resulting in an uplifted appearance and beautiful glowing skin.
“I have created the Visage Intense Marine Facial as a 60-minute personalised workout for the facial muscles that includes a deep cleanse, exfoliation and nourishment with marine-based Phytomer products to blur facial lines and stimulate the production of collagen.
“The therapist kneads the muscles and does upward sweeps followed by what feels like fingers dancing on the skin which relaxes all tension from the face, including loosening tight jaw muscles caused by clenching and grinding teeth.
“This facial is suitable for all ages but cannot be performed after recent treatments with Botox or fillers. The Reef House’s therapists practised the technique on each other and we were surprised that even the younger therapists in their twenties and thirties noticed an improvement.
