Media Release: High Tea launches at The Reef House Adults Retreat

The Reef House Adults Retreat has launched decadent High Tea afternoons each weekend on their restaurant deck overlooking the Coral Sea in Palm Cove.

Traditional English afternoon tea staples are elevated with seasonal Australian flavours and presented on a High Tea tower at The Reef House’s signature restaurant every Saturday and Sunday from 2.30pm.

The Reef House Chef Ondrej Urbanovsky has crafted a selection of savoury and sweet treats which are made in-house including lemon myrtle scones with seasonal berries jam and Daintree vanilla Chantilly, and Coronation chicken choux pastry with snow pea sprouts.

“Compressed cucumber and herb cream cheese sandwiches are very traditional, but guests may not be expecting the raisin sticky date pudding served with rum macerated grapes,” Chef Urbanovsky said.

“We create everything in The Reef House kitchen including the classic Victoria cake with strawberry cream and fresh strawberries, madeleines, and macarons.

“The High Tea comes with bottomless Blackbooks Tea which is blended in Cairns and packed by hand in small batches, or you can elevate your experience with sparkling wine or a handcrafted cocktail.”

The Reef House Adults Retreat Director Malcolm Bean said guests and locals aged 16 years and over could book the only High Tea experience in Tropical North Queensland that comes with an ocean view and enjoy the hospitality of TripAdvisor’s 2024 No1 Luxury Hotel in Australia and South Pacific.

“The Reef House philosophy is all about indulging in rejuvenation time for yourself and the launch of the High Tea adds another relaxing choice to the many activities available at our adults-only wellness retreat,” he said.

“The age-old tradition of a leisurely afternoon tea in restful surrounds fits well with the historic charm of The Reef House, Palm Cove’s first commercial accommodation which has been a popular getaway for celebrities and politicians for more than five decades.

“The Reef House upholds the hospitality traditions set in the seventies where guests were treated as family friends and continues to offer in-house guests punch and canapes in the Brigadier’s Bar each evening as a conversation starter.

“In addition, The Reef House has more than 28 complimentary Signature Inclusions which our Escape Planning Specialists use to individually curate each guest stay to ensure the ultimate in rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.”

The Reef House Adults retreat High Tea is Saturday and Sunday from 2.30pm. The High Tea tower is $150 for two.
