Media Release: Boutique Hoteliers David Horbelt and Malcolm Bean, of Australian Bespoke Collective, are celebrating five awards in the 2023 Trip Advisor awards announced yesterday.
Mount Lofty House, Adelaide, was named the number one Luxury Hotel in Australia and the South Pacific and The Reef House was voted second at the 2023 TripAdvisor Best of the Best Awards.
Additionally, Sequoia Lodge was voted Trip Advisor’s Traveller’s Choice Award, marking three of the boutique hotel group’s properties to list amongst the top hotels in the world.
South Australian Owner David Horbelt and business partner Malcolm Bean said they would be celebrating again this year with another welcome back offer for all their loyal guests.
“We’re delighted to take out these awards, and we’re really thrilled to have three of our properties win an award this year,” said David.
“The Trip Advisor awards are so important to us, given it’s voted by our guests. It’s also testament to the passion and dedication of our incredible team.

Malcolm Bean said the awards were recognition of the partnership and the group’s commitment to excellence in luxury.

“We continue to elevate our offering at all our properties every year, always investing in our customer service and the luxury experiences we deliver.
Last year, Mount Lofty Estate was also recognised as the 2022 Traveller’s Choice Best of the Best award winner for Top Hotels, ranking first in Australia and the South Pacific.
The awards are decided by travellers going, trying, and sharing their experiences. Reviews, opinions and experiences are collected over a 12-month period recognising businesses that consistently receive outstanding reviews and are among the top 1% of listings on Trip Advisor.

In 1972, Brigadier, The Hon. David Thomson, acquired the property and operated Reef House as a private residence where visitors were treated as personal guests.
