Our trip to The Reef House was a delight. We’d been thinking of going for years and finally decided to book based on the stellar reviews. We were not disappointed. The property is beautiful and I felt like I was in the Bahamas with the India Hicks British Colonial style decor.

This is not your typical hotel. It feels like you’re staying at someone’s luxury property. I did things I don’t normally do – I was in the mineral pool paddling around every day because it was 30 degrees. Divine. I went bike riding. I ate cheesecake. Every night.

As an American who has lived in Australia for decades, I’m used to underwhelming customer service. It was so refreshing to experience exceptional customer service again. From Cédric’s warm welcome, to Karla in reservations, and the lovely attentive restaurant staff – thank you for your service (haha).

My husband was reluctant when I booked because he thought Palm Cove was “too quiet” and “not near a good golf course.” By the end of the stay he said, “I would totally come back here again. I don’t think I can go to a resort that allows children after this.” Palm Cove IS quiet – that’s part of what makes it so relaxing – we went during school holidays and it wasn’t heaving with tourists and traffic – it was fine.

I could go on all day – my only regret is not doing more of the activities and tours but we just really needed to chill out. It gives us an excuse to come back again soon. If you
are thinking of booking just do it. So much better than a cookie cutter chain resort.
