One of the best things about a holiday is having the time and space to rest a ‘busy mind’ that is all too often filled with the everyday chatter of daily decisions, worries and responsibilities, leaving very little time to dream and create. 

Having ‘time out’ allows the mind to ponder on the quality of our lives in all areas, as well as wandering into a whole new paradigm of possibilities. By carving out some time to reflect on a number of key life questions, a vacation can prove to be quite transformational.

There’s something very powerful in getting honest and clear with where you are, and where you would like to be.

Questions to ask yourself

So here below are a series of questions that will guide you on this process. Scribble down whatever comes to mind, let the words flow, get real and dream on. 

  1. Are you happy? What changes would be required to make you happy?
  2. Do you have health challenges? What would your prefect health condition be?
  3. Do you currently have a loving, intimate relationship that supports your growth? Describe your dream relationship in detail.
  4. Do you have the job or business of your dreams? Describe what the job or business of your dreams would be like.
  5. Are you comfortable financially? What would you need to be financially secure?
  6. Do you have the kind of friendships that you would like to have in your life? Describe your ideal best friend.
  7. Do you have a good relationship with each of your family members? Describe your ideal family and how you can contribute to a positive dynamic within your family. 
  8. Do you feel mentally and emotionally well? Describe how you would think and feel if you achieved optimal mental and emotional health. 
  9. Are you living the kind of lifestyle that makes you happy? If money were no object what kind of lifestyle would you have?
  10. What ‘wild and crazy’ thing have you always wanted to do, but felt you couldn’t? What prevents you from doing that?
  11. Write down your life accomplishments. Give yourself a pat on the back.
  12. Imagine that you have no restrictions. You can have and do anything your heart desires. There are no obstacles. Make a list of 25 things you would do.
  13. Who would I be, how would I be and what would I do without my story?
