Brett's Outback Tasting Adventures

This is a wonderfully unique food and wine experience in Port Douglas.

You will be tasting some of the best food and wine that the Atherton Tablelands has to offer. We will take you through a variety of contrasting landscapes from lush rainforest, crops, dairyland to stunning ochre savannah plains. The rich volcanic soil allows farmers to grow many and diverse crops from bananas, coffee, sugar cane, avocados, mangoes, macadamia nuts, citrus and more which you will learn about as we taste our way around the regions ‘Food Bowl.’

Take in the beautiful views and relax as we take you on a fascinating food journey through Far North Queensland. 


  • Stop 1: Rainforestation Nature Park
    Enjoy breakfast amidst the Kuranda Rainforest in the Treehouse Restaurant of family-owned Rainforestation Nature Park. Breakfast includes a selection of tropical fruits, Mungali yoghurt, wattle-seed damper, tropical jams and local tea & coffee.

  • Stop 2: Skybury Coffee & Papaya Plantation
    Located on the top of the Great Diving Range,  Skybury has the ideal climate for growing their 90,000 coffee and papaya trees. Sample their delicious Arabica coffee, firm fleshed red Papaya and a lunch of local produce. 

  • Stop 3: Mount Uncle Distillery 
    North Queensland’s first distillery! Taste some of their award winning liqueurs and spirits, then take a wander round this stunning property nestled in coffee and banana plantations, with beautiful gardens and some friendly animals.

  • Stop 4: Gallo Dairyland 
    Taste a selection of delicious cheeses and irresistible Swiss style filled chocolates

  • Stop 5: The Humpy
    The best place to go to for freshly harvested Atherton Tablelands produce straight from the growers. From vegetables to tropical fruits and hundreds of different varieties of nuts, dried fruits locally produced jams and sauces.

  • Stop 6: Golden Drop Winery
    The first commercial Mango Winery in Far North Queensland to produce Mango wines, Mango Port, Sparkling Mango wine and fortified Taste the whole range before enjoying the famous mango ice-cream by the Daintree Ice Cream company. 

  • Stop 7: Platypus Hut – QLD Wine & Beer
    Soak up the stunning rainforest and pristine environment. Watch out for a passing Kangaroo and head down to ‘The Platypus Hut’ where you can sit in a tranquil setting as the sun goes down, watch for dive bombing Kingfishers & the elusive Platypus whilst tasting some Queensland wines & beer, Macadamia nut butter and local bread.
